This week Kaylynn turned 6 months old. She has become such a big girl. She is now eating cereal and fruits and veggies. She loves bananas most of all so far! I have enjoyed making food for her. I do have to admit this is partly because I am cheap. It actually has been pretty easy though; it just takes some time. I have just been steaming the fruits and veggies, blending them smooth, and then freezing in ice cube trays. So now the freezer is full of bags of little cubes of food!
Some of Kaylynn’s 6 month pictures are below. If you want to see the rest, click here.

Kaylynn has had all sorts of exposure to nature recently. We have played outside, felt the grass, (including pulling the grass out of the ground and trying to put it in our mouth), petted a goat, seen chickens, a mule, and kitties. Jeremy’s sister and her family have a farm in Battle Creek that we visited this weekend, so we had lots of fun there (and I had a chance to play with my new camera!). All the fun things we can do now that spring and summer are here!

So I have been talking for a while about wanting to get more into photography and get a better camera. Jeremy got me a book about photography for Mother’s Day and then I actually got a new camera the other day. I have a lot to learn about the features of the camera as well as photography, but I figured I had the perfect little model for all of my practice!

It is hard to believe that it was just last year that we announced that we were expecting a wee Wood (on Mother’s Day!). How a year flies by! The new experiences, feelings, and anticipation that pregnancy brings to those final moments when we were just waiting for the doctor to say, “It’s a…”. What an amazing and wild ride that I would not change for one minute. Some things I have learned in the past year:
- Being a mother is one of the hardest and trying things I have ever done. It is also the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
- I have been around many babies and children before, but there is something about having your own child that completely changes your views of children (for the better!).
- One little smile can erase tears of frustration, exhaustion, and helplessness in one quick second.
- A snuggle that leads to Kaylynn falling asleep in my arms (or just falling asleep) is one of the most peaceful and relaxing things.
I could go on and on, but there are just too many wonderful things about being a mommy! And so many more to come!
As we are now 5 1/2 months old, we have a high chair that we have used a couple of times as we are getting ready to get big girl food. We have only done rice cereal at this point, but when I am done with school for the year, bring on the fruits and veggies! Nothing like celebrating being 6 months old with some new food!
Note from Kaylynn:
I have also learned how to put my feet in my mouth. Just when mommy and daddy thought that just about everything was already going in my mouth! And yes, that is my other leg sticking out to the side. I am quite flexible!
Getting ready for summer with my new sunglasses and hat!
